Liverpool’s rising indie-alt-rock outfit Honey Motel make a powerful return today with their compelling new single ‘If You Didn’t Exist’ – a genre-blurring statement of intent that cements their growing reputation as one to watch.

Produced by Alexandros Brits (Clean Cut Kid, Michael Aldag, St Catherine’s Child), the track arrives as a bold evolution in Honey Motel’s sonic identity, bringing a vibrant mix of styles that come together to create something more than their sum. Melodic indie-pop, with tasteful bluesy guitar flourishes, and splashes of alt-rock intensity create a vibrant, shapeshifting single that’s as emotionally resonant as it is musically inventive and despite its shifting pace, unapologetically catchy.

A restless journey through the band’s eclectic influences, ‘If You Didn’t Exist’ unfolds with a natural fluency. Led by the husky, emotive vocals and tightly coiled rhythms, with bursts of raw, cathartic energy the track moves elegantly from section to section in an unpredictable, yet cohesive flow.

From its soulful, tight opening, the track gradually develops through playful lyricism into a flourishing chorus bringing a driving sense energy and delivering on the suspense set through the growing verse. The production allows each element to shine: the rhythm section pulses with intent, while elegant guitar lines swell with a elegance and the memorable melodic hooks feel unforced while the track shifts in tempo, feel and intensity.

Talking about the single, guitarist Sam explains: “This is the first track the band and Fred (new vocalist) clicked together on. I showed him the track in one of our first rehearsals and Lew and Jack played along. It was like the track went from black and white to technicolour instantly. He just seemed to get it…Fred brought it to life.

Thematically, If You Didn’t Exist is about the quiet weight certain things carry in our lives. Things that might seem insignificant to others, but for us, hold everything together. A favourite band, a partner, a personal obsession, take them away, and suddenly the whole structure starts to wobble. The song sits with that feeling, the fear of losing what makes life feel like life.”

Debuting their recent line up change at Liverpool Sound City and quickly earning a spot on the national radar, Honey Motel opened for The Lottery Winners on their 2025 UK tour, and played at festivals including Y Not Festival, Stockton Calling, and The Great Escape to name just a few.

With ‘If You Didn’t Exist’, Honey Motel are releasing their strongest work to date—showcasing a sound that’s ambitious yet controlled, unfiltered yet polished, and uniquely their own. As they gear up for the release of their new EP, today’s single marks not just a return, but a significant leap forward.
