Sitrekin, the solo of project of Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjærg, former founding member, lead singer and songwriter in the acclaimed Danish band Blue Foundation returns with the minimal, atmospheric and beautiful new single ‘As I Moved On’.

Sitting somewhere between Björk and artists such as Poliça and Bat For Lashes, Sitrekin’s unique experimental and electronic musical approach shines on ‘As I Moved’ on as the track grows from its spacious dappled glitches and reverb drenched synth chords of it’s opening to a driving yet still understated chorus of grinding bass and lo-fi beats. Pulled forward by Sitrekin’s angelic, delicate and haunting lead vocal, the track is given an enticing, captivating central pin for the electronic instrumentation to dance around with a sense of freedom.

Talking about the track, Teglbjærg shares: ”‘As I Moved On’ is written from a dark place – but with a promise of power, growth and light. The song is about moving on from something that is no longer serving your best. You take a deep breath and throw yourself into the unknown, and then you must find the courage and strength to stand alone – face your own fears, sorrows and limitations. The song is about listening to, and trusting, your inner voice, wherever it takes you. About being true to yourself and stay open, soft and vulnerable, yet at the same time, badass and awe-inspiring, and not letting anyone run you over.

The song is also about having the courage and strength to stand alone, if that is what it takes. In contrast to this, the choruses rise in waves of bright melodies, and this illustrates that, if you dare to set out for your journey, it can be scary – yes – but there’s also a chance that something magical can happen.”

Released as to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the iconic Blue Foundation break-through album ‘Sweep of Days’, the track manages to capture the same sense of atmosphere of Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjærg’s previous band whilst retaining the alternative electronic sound which characterises her new solo project. With her own debut album in the works, the new single serves as not just a vessel to look back at her past success but also offers a taste of the unique sounds which can be expected on her upcoming full release.
