Essex Singer-songwriter Trent Halliday has released a new track ‘Get Close’, written this year and taken from a forthcoming album, details of which to follow.
Trent says of the process and the current climate, “….I have been recording a new album. All of the songs for it have been written this year. Those written before lockdown now seem strangely prescient. The single I am about to release ‘Get Close’, is one of those songs. It could have been made as a direct response to what has happened. It’s sentiment seems so appropriate for the moment that I felt an urgency to release it.”
‘Get Close’ is this beautiful acoustic number. The gentle movement of strings and notes pours over your ears, as Halliday’s soft vocal lays over the top, the repetitive nature of much of the lyrics almost becoming a mantra, a love letter to someone just out of reach in these testing times.
