With his new album ‘Don’t Die In The Bundu’ due out 21st July via Bella Union, Wren Hinds has shared a hypnotic animated video for his new single ‘Restless Child’.

Commenting on the track and video Wren says:

“With my baby boy due in just a few months, I witnessed his movement and adventurous spirit through the motions and ripples playing out on his mother’s belly. While at the same time, out in the world, we were – and still are – faced with immense political and social challenges. We were just coming out of the first covid era and everything felt crazy. I’d cycle past explosive and politicised graffiti, I came across police locking people away for taking a walk on the beach, and around the same time the Durban riots in my home province made me uneasy. These events were the backdrop to life while making this record and it was an intense time.”

He continues:

“‘Restless Child’ is basically a father speaking to his unborn child, and is a song that carries the message of being present in every situation, of being ready to face whatever joys or challenges present themselves. I was very fortunate to work with Thabang Lehobye, an incredibly talented visual artist based in Johannesburg, who conceptualised and created the video for the track.”

Hypnotic guitar and whispered vocals meld together on this track to form something beautiful in both execution and listening pleasure. It’s a track that’s written from the heart that overflows with emotion backed by the beating heart from the gentle percussion hidden in the background.
