Julien Baker and TORRES have dropped the official video for their acclaimed debut single, ‘Sugar in the Tank.’

“We were really honored that the Stud Country folks were willing to have fun with us and prepare this line dance for the song! Everyone involved is so talented and they were patient and sweet with us while we learned the moves. For us it’s particularly special to find someplace and some people to do cowboy shit with here in NYC.” Julie Baker and TORRES

Teaming up with Stud Country, a queer country dance party collective, the video is a vibrant celebration of community. Choreographed by Stud Country co-founder Sean Monaghan and starring dancers from the collective, the clip pulses with energy and heart. “Collaborating with artists like Julien and TORRES during this country revival feels incredible,” said Monaghan. The video was directed by Caity Arthur.

Memphis-born Julien Baker made waves in 2015 with her haunting debut, Sprained Ankle. A master of raw storytelling, she has since cemented her place as one of the most compelling singer-songwriters of her generation. Whether it’s the muted grandeur of her 2021 album Little Oblivions or her Grammy-winning work with boygenius, Baker’s ability to tap into emotional chaos remains unmatched. Mackenzie Scott, known as TORRES, brings a fearless edge to the collaboration. With six studio albums under her belt, including 2023’s What an Enormous Room, TORRES is a powerhouse of bold creativity. Her ability to fuse vulnerability with defiance shines through in every note, adding depth to this debut collaboration with Baker.
