Watch: Pottery share video for “Take Your Time” (plus tour dates)

Canadian dance-punks Pottery have released a rather Pythonesque inspired music video for their latest single, “Take Your Time“, taken from their forthcoming album Welcome to Bobby’s Hotel.

Designed, illustrated and directed by band member Paul Jacobs, with animation duties helmed by Raised By Bears, the Devo-heavy single pairs up nicely with the Terry Gilliam like style of animation.

If you’re getting an acid flashes from the video, don’t panic; it’s intentional. “It’s not a secret that we enjoy occasionally using drugs recreationally, in the past they’ve helped guide us creatively and personally.” the band have remarked. “But this song is about the darker side of drugs, when they become habits. It’s about the tough spot that stuff can put you in, beyond the isolated experience of briefly having a good time while you’re using them.”

“You spend all your money, ruin your body, and don’t get anything out of it except for a fun night.”

Welcome to Bobby’s Hotel is scheduled for release on April 10th through Partisan Records, and boast production credits from Jonathan Schenke (Parquet Courts, Snail Mail).

Not to distantly after the album’s release, the band make their way over to the United Kingdom for a brief number of live dates:

DATES:

08 JUN 2020 / UK / Brighton / Chalk
09 JUN 2020 / UK / Manchester / Deaf Institute
10 JUN 2020 / UK / Leeds / Brudenell Social Club
11 JUN 2020 / UK / London / The Dome Tufnell Park

I write words that sometimes make sense and other times don't. But perhaps in either case that will evoke some form of emotion about what I am writing. Or maybe not.
