LISTEN: GOGO PENGUIN RELEASE “ATOMISED” AHEAD OF SELF-TITLED ALBUM.

Mercury-nominated instrumentalists GoGo Penguin have notched up an impressive five albums across the span of their career. Their fusion of jazz, classical and electronic music has drawn critical praise since their debut in 2013.

That critical praise came to a head when the band’s album, V2.0, made the final shortlist for the 2014 Mercury Prize, in a field that included Damon Albarn, Kate Tempest and eventual winners Young Fathers.

Six years later, the Manchester band return with their sixth endeavour, GoGo Penguin, scheduled for release through Blue Note Records on May 1st.

Atomised“, the first single from the forthcoming long-player, immediately piques the listener’s interest with a breathtaking arpeggio piano over the top of a self-described “UK garage beat.”

Having performed a Tiny Desk Concert on hallowed North American institute NPR in 2018 and earning plaudits from outlets such as The Washington Post, the group released the Koyaanisqatsi influenced EP, Ocean in a Drop: Music For Film last year.

GoGo Penguin is released May 1st 2020 through Blue Note Records.
