Band of Horses return to the Enmore Theatre tonight, their first Australian appearance since 2016, bringing with them the kind of indie-rock gravitas only a band of their pedigree can summon. It’s been nearly two decades since their 2006 Australian debut, and the years have only deepened their connection to fans here, bolstered by ARIA-charting albums and unforgettable anthems like The Funeral, Laredo, and No One’s Gonna Love You.

Emerging from Seattle’s fertile indie scene, Band of Horses quickly became a cornerstone of the mid-2000s rock resurgence, their 2010 LP Infinite Arms even earning a Grammy nod. What sets them apart isn’t just their ear for melody or Ben Bridwell’s unmistakable voice—it’s their ability to craft songs that linger in the soul, intimate yet universal, melancholic yet uplifting.

Opening for Band of Horses tonight, Sydney’s own Fait Accompli step up as the defiant torchbearers of the city’s underground indie scene. With a reputation forged on blistering live performances and a steady stream of standout releases, they’ve earned their stripes as one of the scene’s most enduring forces.

Outside, Sydney is drowning under a tempest, the kind of storm that makes you second-guess every decision to leave the house. But inside the venue, the energy doesn’t wane. Ben Bridwell steps onto the stage to the haunting strains of The Drones’ “Baby,” the thunder outside a fitting prelude to the storm about to unfold indoors. Alone under the spotlight, he eases into “St. Augustine,” his voice aching and exposed, each word hanging in the air like it’s holding back the rain.

As he finishes the song, Bridwell takes a moment to introduce each member of the band as they unobtrusively join him onstage. The room has swelled to capacity, a sea of faces illuminated by the glow of shared reverence. The storm outside is forgotten; here, Band of Horses have cast a spell, and no one dares look away.

Band of Horses have been criss crossing Australia as part of A Day On The Green. There are two more A Day On The Green shows this weekend featuring The Teskey Brothers, Band Of Horses, Sierra Ferrell, CMAT and Charlie Needs Braces.
