The Australian pop-rock group Lime Cordiale brought their thunderous show from down under this past weekend to the Wonder Ballroom in Portland Oregon. Lime Cordiale is fronted by brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, their brotherly energy was ever present throughout the show. Performing with them on this tour were fellow countrymen, the indy rock group Teenage Dads. Both group of artists put on fantastic performances that would have the Portland crowd on their feet dancing all night.

Lime Cordiale came out shaking the hands of the fan pressed against the stage at the Wonder Ballroom, then hugging each other before picking up their instruments to start the evening. Their energy was immediately electric – we could tell we were in for an entertaining performance. The bands set saw members of Lime Cordial perform with various different instruments, ones you may not normally expect at a rock show including at times a trombone, trumpet, kazoo and even a clarinet that was performed by Oli during songs. This gave the band a unique upbeat sound that was also very pleasant to the ear.

A highlight moment saw Oli take to the audience with his mic in hand, the crowd opened up in a circle around him as he sang. He grabbed a guy by the arm, proceeding to dance them around the open floor and with a swing and a dip, Oli jokingly leaned in for a kiss before returning to stage. Oli then dedicated the next song to the person he had just danced with, a cover of “I Touch Myself” by Australian band Divinyls – to many loud cheers and clapping from the crowd.

With the crowd calling for an encore after the band initially left the stage, Oli and Louis returned for an acoustic performance with the band gradually returning to the stage through the song. Lime Cordiale would finished with two more songs before taking a bow, again shaking the hands of the crowd and saying goodnight to Portland. The show was a fun and exciting, I enjoyed singing along to the music and dancing with those around me all night. The show was a memorable one and I am looking forward catching Lime Cordiale again the next time they make it to the United States.

Lime Cordiale has a few California dates left on this leg of the tour before heading over to Europe to finish out the summer. A full list of tour dates and ticket information can be found on the bands website. Their latest single “Imposter Syndrome” is out now and available to stream on all major platforms.
