Joseph Sant, originally from Seattle but now ensconced in Brooklyn is about to release his debut EP, Sea White Salt, on January 14th next year. It’s wrapped up in tales of the forces of nature, love, dreams and hopes and a whole lot of things inbetween. It was recorded with Gabriel Gavin during a few overnight marathon sessions at Four Foot Studios, just before it closed, a victim of the real estate boom.
From it comes a new track Nor’easter. Its a gentle, almost ethereal number, Sants vocal delicately balanced on top of the ebb of the guitar as it laps over your ears, the drums the only pointer to any real sense of rhythm. As such its like a wash, almost a 4AD at that, and as it hits the chorus and it splashes into life, it really captures your heart.
