See: Legendary Aussie band The Church unveil new single/video Vanishing Man

These seemingly eternal warriors of psychedelia are on the move again – The Church have only just released their album Further/Deeper in the US (we glowingly reviewed this treasure last October) and will be undertaking an extensive North American tour in the coming months. Read my review of their remarkable gig in Sydney here and make sure you get to see them live if you are able to.

Just to spark things off, they have released a new single off the album – Vanishing Man –  as well as a video that shows off lead renaissance man, Steve Kilbey’s artistic skills as a series of paintings of the band magically materialise amongst an organic febrile background. There are 50 signed, museum grade collectible prints of each artwork available via the band’s website.  The video is a perfect compliment to the song itself – an expansive, layered psychedelic trip with the usual enigmatic lyrics and architectured guitar shards slicing through the steady rhythm section:

A slow burning start before it settles into the usual Churchian glory. Majesty and power indeed.
