News: False Futures Share Compelling New Single ‘Under The Same Sun’

London quartet False Futures release their third single, ‘Under The Same Sun’.

A shimmering, intimate and reflective meditation on youth, ambition, and the eternal search for belonging, the track grows from its striped opener to a swaying beat, to capture a theatrical flare among the guitar led, indie instrumentation. Compelling through its story telling, and social commentary, the track carries an anthemic comparable to Blur whilst giving a hefty mod to Arctic Monkeys and Pavement.

Written and recorded in a modest 9ft x 9ft North London room, ‘Under The Same Sun’ captures the group’s DIY spirit. Self-produced with the kind of homespun ingenuity that recalls Mac DeMarco’s bedroom ethos, at the track’s heart is frontman Mathew Conner’s unmistakable Northern lilt, delivering lyrics that balance sharp social observation with universal nostalgia. “This track is a pat on the back to my younger self; a reminder to do as you please with your time on earth,” he explains. “The good, the bad, the alright, everything that has ever happened has done so, under the same sun, and that’s all the guarantee you’re getting.”

Opening with vignettes of schoolkids hustling sweets from “bootbags”, a metaphor for rebellion against conformity, the song swells into a wider reflection on institutional pressures, ambition, and the importance of preserving youthful dreams. English in detail but universal in spirit, it carries the relatability that gives the track a compelling sense of identity.

With a growing reputation as one to watch, ‘Under The Same Sun’ further cements the bands place as ones to watch.
