Teaming up with fellow contemporary Iobono, Montreal-based producer Joseph Crime returns with his latest single, Higher. The follow-up to June’s It All Ends, the track further cements Joseph as one of electronic music’s fast-rising talents.
Coupling sweeping sequencers with reverb-laden vocals, Higher builds a hypnotic wall of sound. Its euphoric four-to-the-floor groove oozes both finesse and ecstasy, while progressive layers deepen the record’s textures and broaden its reach.
Speaking about the collaboration, Joseph explains:
“This track was born from a happy meeting of minds between me and Lobono. I started experimenting with a few ideas, and those sessions quickly turned into a harmonious blend of both our influences. For Lobono, it was a chance to explore his voice in new ways. For me, it was the perfect opportunity to reflect on the artist’s journey, a path that can be as challenging as it is rewarding.
I chose the title Higher because it represents the pinnacle I strive for: a state where I’m untouched by life’s uncertainties, fully focused on my craft, and determined to succeed. I kept that mindset in mind throughout the production, especially when I left intentional space for the vocals and lyrics to breathe.”
Born in Beirut and now based in Montreal, Joseph Crime has carved out a distinctive sound rooted in melodic electronica, shaped by both emotional depth and sonic experimentation. His passion for music began with classical piano lessons before production unlocked his creative trajectory. Since then, he has racked up over 400,000 streams on his Matt Leger collaboration Falling Leaves and signed to Nora En Pure’s acclaimed label Purified. On the live circuit, he has appeared at Montreal’s Piknic Électronik alongside the likes of Rezident, Einmusik, and Nora En Pure herself.
With Higher, Joseph Crime is poised to make waves heading into 2025, offering listeners not just a track, but a statement of intent.
