News: Joanna Borne Shares New Single ‘Wolves’

Nashville-based alt-pop artist Joanna Borne has released Wolves, a moody and cinematic single that draws from her extraordinary childhood alongside wolves and wolf dogs. The track captures the tension between instinct and empathy, showing how danger and beauty can coexist in surprising ways.

Growing up in rural Saskatchewan, Borne developed a unique perspective on loyalty, caution, and intuition—lessons that continue to inform her music. For Wolves, she collaborated with producers David Lehr and Jesse Brock, with mixing and mastering handled by Sean Moffitt (Tommee Profitt, Keith Urban, Josh Groban) and John Greenham (Billie Eilish, FINNEAS). The result is a layered, immersive sound, featuring growling bass, textured guitars, haunting synths, and ghostly wolf howls that echo throughout the track.

“The wolves showed me how something can be loving yet unpredictable,” Borne explains. “I carry that lesson into how I relate to people.”

The song also reflects the duality of her upbringing in a small, divided city, where moments of closeness often coexisted with conflict. This tension between connection and isolation runs through the track, mirroring the complexities of modern life.

For the visuals, Borne joined photographer Teigan Uhlik and longtime friend Sky Phoenix at A Wolf Adventure Outreach in Saskatchewan. The resulting imagery blurs the boundaries between human and wild, grounding the cinematic sound in real-life experience.

With Wolves, Joanna Borne delivers one of her most ambitious and immersive tracks to date, blending personal history with striking, atmospheric production.
