GRAMMY-NOMINATED BAND DEBUTS LIVE PERFORMANCE VIDEO OF SINGLE TAKEN FROM 2021 ALBUM SURFACE SOUNDS ACCOMPANIED BY STRINGS AT HISTORIC SKÁLHOLT CATHEDRAL IN ICELAND. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1OxUUV8dpI

As the latest in a series of striking videos filmed in their native Iceland, GRAMMY-nominated Elektra/Atlantic rock band KALEO debut an acoustic live performance video of SurfaceSoundslead single I Want More, accompanied by a string ensemble at Skálholt Cathedral, known as one of the most historically significant sites in the country.

Joined by a nine-piece string ensemble, including violin, viola and cello, KALEO front man and songwriter JJ Julius Son is seen in front of the pulpit with just an acoustic guitar. He begins playing the intro to the single as the camera pans down the centre aisle, showcasing the stained-glass windows and stunning architecture of Skálholt Cathedral, built from Norwegian timber during the 12th century, marking a longstanding cultural epicentre of Iceland.
Performing solo up until the second verse, Julius Son’s serene vocal and acoustic guitar are supplemented by violins (Sigrún Harðardóttir, Ásta Kristín Pjetursdóttir, Guðbjartur Hákonarson and Chrissie Guðmundsdóttir), violas (Karl James Pestka and Þórunn Harðardóttir) and cellos (Unnur Jónsdóttir, Hrafnhildur Marta Guðmundsdóttir and Júlía Mogensen), leading into the bridge, idyllically whistled by Julius Son, beautifully amplified by the natural acoustics of the cathedral.

During their time off the road, the band filmed a series of live performance videos showcasing the spectacular landscapes of Iceland, performing from an ice cave in Backbone (Live at Breiðarmerkurjökull), the country’s recent volcanic eruption in Skinny (Live from Fagradalsfjall Volcanic Eruption), and Triple A Top 6 single Break My Baby (Live from ÞRÍDRANGAR), recorded and filmed at the illustrious ÞRÍDRANGAR lighthouse, one of the most isolated places on earth, located atop a remote rock formation in the North Atlantic Ocean.

KALEO have performed in over 30 cities since kicking off the Fight Or Flight Tour in February (with the majority to sold-out audiences), and recently announced additional shows in North America this summer. KALEO’s new run of dates will follow the first European leg set for June and early July. Tickets and information for the new dates are available at OfficialKALEO.com.

Irish based concert photographer, maybe! ever so slightly addicted to gigs. Listens mostly to alternative / goth / folk punk / punk / ska. I blame the 80s.
