Pete Mills is the man behind The Sweet Kill, a one-man post-punk project which focuses on the more dark and gothic side of the genre. He is set to release his album Darkness on vinyl next month via Young And Cold Records. Until then Mill’s has shared the title track from the album.
Reflecting on the meaning of the single Darkness, Mills states,
“The spark between dark and gothic attraction can lead to a charged demise. Perpetually intertwined with murky chemistry and twilight solemnity, Darkness polarises this extravagance”
The throbbing bass line matches Mills’s deep tenor as a touch of guitar spices the track up with ringing notes. It’s Mills’s seductive vocals that steal the show though, adding a menacing touch and creating dark suspense in this gothic post punk track.
