Two of America’s most influential indie voices — Alex G and Lucy Dacus — are set to grace the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall for back-to-back headline performances this February, marking a milestone moment in the venue’s ever-expanding love affair with contemporary music.

Alex G – Monday 9 February, Concert Hall

Pennsylvania’s enigmatic cult hero Alex G (Alex Giannascoli) takes the stage on Monday 9 February, performing songs from his acclaimed tenth album Headlights (2025) — his first for a major label — alongside beloved cuts from his sprawling back catalogue.
A figure of enduring mystique and quiet experimentation, Alex G has built a following through his lo-fi honesty and emotional range, bridging bedroom pop with something altogether celestial. Headlights finds him at his most reflective yet, earning praise from Pitchfork as “an artist who’s basically a genre unto himself.”
Opening the evening is Sydney indie-folk artist Esha Tewari, who will perform a special solo acoustic set to set the mood for Giannascoli’s return to Australian shores.

Lucy Dacus – Tuesday 10 February, Concert Hall

The following night, Lucy Dacus — one-third of boygenius and one of modern songwriting’s most luminous voices — will deliver her first solo Australian performance in four years.
Her new record, Forever Is A Feeling (2025), is an elegant meditation on time, tenderness and transformation. Featuring collaborators including Hozier, Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, Bartees Strange, and Madison Cunningham, the album’s lead single Best Guess was hailed by The LA Times as one of the best songs of 2025.
Expect an evening of soft grandeur and lyrical intimacy from an artist who can command a room with a whisper.

“Alex G is a true sonic innovator whose richly layered, melodic indie-rock has deservedly amassed a cult following. Lucy Dacus is a profound and formidable artist whose newest album fuses lush, whimsical arrangements with achingly tender lyrics and wisdom. Come bear witness to two virtuoso songsmiths at the top of their game.” – Ben Marshall Head of Contemporary Music SOH
