News: Futurecop! Returns With Dreamlike New Single ‘I’m Missing You’, Accompanied By Nostalgic New Visual

Synth-pop solo artist Futurecop! has re-emerged with a luminous new chapter, unveiling his latest single ‘I’m Missing You’ alongside a cinematic music video that captures the wistful glow of memory and young love. The track, created in collaboration with Japanese-born vocalist YUSA, is a standout from his newly released album Wind Town & Flowers.

Blending shimmering synth textures with warm, sun-drenched melodies, ‘I’m Missing You’ sits delicately between indie pop and synthwave. It carries Futurecop!’s signature sense of colour and emotional sincerity, crafting a soundscape that feels both euphoric and reflective. At its core, the song explores the lingering imprint of a powerful romance – where memory becomes a kind of emotional treasure, quietly shaping the present.

For Futurecop!, the track is more than just a single – it’s the genesis of the entire album. He traces its origins back to a moment of unexpected inspiration: watching the Japanese TV drama Beach Boys sparked a deep dive into similarly heartfelt series, including works starring Takuya Kimura and the beloved drama Orange Days. That world of gentle storytelling and emotional authenticity became the foundation for the track’s atmosphere.

“I’m Missing You is really where the whole Wind, Town & Flowers project began,” he explains. “There’s something so pure and inspirational about those stories. Finding YUSA’s voice was the final piece – it instantly felt right.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Anise Mariko Lew and shot by Yumiko Kobayashi, brings that emotional palette vividly to life. Set against the serene backdrop of coastal Japan, the film follows a woman returning to her hometown, where fragments of her youth—sunlit beaches, fleeting romance, and quiet longing—resurface with poetic intensity.

Crafted by a small, all-female creative team rooted in the arts, the production carries a sense of intimacy and authenticity. Lew and Kobayashi’s collaboration, which began through Instagram in 2015, has since evolved into a cross-cultural creative partnership, with previous work even premiering at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia.

Futurecop! notes that Lew was instrumental in translating his vision to screen. “She completely understood the atmosphere I wanted,” he says. “From finding locations to casting, including YUSA herself, she captured that nostalgic, dreamlike Japanese mood beautifully.”

The visual world of Wind Town & Flowers is further enriched by Indonesian anime artist Tiyan Muhammad, whose artwork ties together the project’s soft-focus aesthetic and sense of escapism.

With ‘I’m Missing You’, Futurecop! doesn’t just return – he invites listeners into a carefully crafted universe where music, memory, and visual storytelling intertwine. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most vivid places we revisit aren’t destinations at all, but feelings.
