News: Dijon Announces Australian Headline Debut at Sydney Opera House

Dijon will make his Australian headline debut this December, with the US singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist set to take over the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Saturday, December 12.

The Sydney show arrives at the end of a particularly busy period for Dijon Duenas. Following the release of his second album Baby in 2025, he has moved increasingly between his own work and collaborations with some of contemporary music’s biggest names, including Justin Bieber and Bon Iver.

Dijon first began releasing solo material in 2017 following his time as one half of alternative R&B duo Abhi//Dijon. His debut album Absolutely arrived in 2021, accompanied by a film that helped capture the loose, intimate character of his music and the way it translates into performance.

That approach continued on Baby, an album that further blurred the boundaries between R&B, folk, Americana and soul. Dijon has never seemed particularly concerned with keeping those elements neatly separated, which is part of what makes his music difficult to pin down and his live performances so compelling.

His work outside his own records has expanded considerably too. A frequent collaborator with Mk.gee, Dijon has also worked with Matt Champion, Charli XCX, Bon Iver and Justin Bieber. His contributions to Bieber’s Swag helped earn Dijon two Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.

Music hasn’t been the only diversion. Dijon also made his acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, adding another strand to a career that increasingly seems happy to move between disciplines.

Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music Ben Marshall points to the intimacy of Dijon’s performances as a particularly good fit for the Concert Hall.

“His performances carry a deeply disarming tenderness, creating the kind of emotional intimacy that is rare to witness live,” Marshall says. “It’s an honour to welcome an artist surging towards global stardom to the Concert Hall.”

The Opera House appearance gives Australian audiences their first chance to see a full Dijon headline performance, and the Concert Hall should provide an interesting setting for music that can move from sparse and exposed to wonderfully unruly without much warning.

Dijon plays the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Saturday, December 12.
