News: Counting Crows Add Second Melbourne Show After Palais Theatre Sell-Out

For more than thirty years, Counting Crows have stood as one of America’s most enduring rock bands — crafting songs that feel both deeply personal and universally familiar. In 2026, the Grammy and Academy Award-nominated group return to Australia and New Zealand with The Complete Sweets! Tour, bringing a career-spanning set of anthems, deep cuts and new material to some of the region’s most iconic theatres.

With their first Melbourne Palais Theatre show already sold out, a second date has been added for April 2, underscoring the lasting pull of a band whose catalogue continues to resonate across generations.

Counting Crows first burst onto the scene with 1993’s multi-platinum debut August and Everything After, an album that introduced frontman Adam Duritz’s introspective lyricism and emotional intensity to the world. The follow-up, 1996’s Recovering the Satellites, debuted at number one and confirmed their place at the forefront of 90s alternative rock. Subsequent albums — This Desert Life, Hard Candy, and Somewhere Under Wonderland — expanded their sonic reach while maintaining the band’s signature blend of melody and melancholy.

Their 2004 hit Accidentally in Love became a cultural touchstone, earning nominations for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Grammy, and cementing their crossover appeal. In 2021, Billboard ranked them among the Top 10 Adult Alternative Artists of All Time, a testament to their enduring relevance.

The Complete Sweets! tour follows the release of Butter Miracle: The Complete Sweets, the latest chapter in the band’s ongoing story. For Counting Crows, it’s another chance to connect with audiences who have grown up with their songs — and to prove that, three decades on, they’re still one of rock’s most compelling live acts.
