News: Shervin Boloorian Returns With Tender, Folk-Tinged Single ‘One More Day’

Iran-born singer-songwriter Shervin Boloorian returns with ‘One More Day’, a reflective and deeply personal new single that explores the complexities of grief, longing, and emotional resilience. The track marks another collaboration with acclaimed producer Kipper Eldridge, known for his work with Sting and Gary Numan, and expands the emotional landscape of Boloorian’s forthcoming EP Unbroken.

Where ‘My Free Heart’ shimmered with hopeful warmth, ‘One More Day’ moves into darker territory while still delivering an unexpectedly bright, melodic surface. Drawing inspiration from the duality of The Smiths and The Cure, artists who paired unsettling truths with colourful arrangements, Boloorian blends indie-folk tenderness with soft-pop clarity. The result is a track that feels both uplifting and devastating, balanced with a songwriter’s careful ease.

“Creating ‘One More Day’ felt like breathing life into a comforting friend, who gently steered me through the hell of my most massive loss,” says Boloorian, “It spilt out of me with a kind of emotionally raw, innocent honesty of ‘what if I could pause time and change the fates for a day?”

According to Boloorian, ‘One More Day’ is about finding the courage to face what loss leaves behind. “The hardest part isn’t saying goodbye, it’s uncovering the parts of grief that keep resurfacing,” he says. “I didn’t realise how much sadness I’d buried beneath my own mask until long after losing my mother to cancer six years ago, and my father a year and a half later.”

Kipper Eldridge, the producer and collaborator behind the track, famed for his creative work with Sting, also chimes in, “When Shervin first played me all the songs he was planning for this EP, “One More Day” stood out immediately. It’s the most direct, simple, and yet emotionally deep of them all. I’ve always felt it’s a far greater challenge to produce a song that already works perfectly with just guitar and vocal, deciding what, if anything, to add without losing that raw honesty. I’d like to think we nailed it.”

The track also features contributions from Carl Young (Spearhead, Michael Franti), adding further richness to its understated palette. Despite its emotional weight, ‘One More Day’ offers solace as much as sorrow, serving as a luminous guide through the fog of loss.

With ‘One More Day’, Shervin Boloorian continues to carve out a space where grief, melody, and resilience meet, offering a poignant reminder of the healing power of song.
