Rising singer-songwriter Sofia Gobbi is continuing her upward trajectory with the announcement of her latest single, ‘With Gold’, the newest preview of her forthcoming debut album ‘Bigger Man’. The track marks a stylistic shift for the London-based artist, who has been steadily gaining recognition from platforms including BBC Radio 1.
Where Sofia earlier releases leaned into driving indie-rock rhythms, ‘With Gold’ introduces a more understated folk-pop palette. The single pairs a delicate, arpeggiated guitar line with spacious, restrained production designed to amplify its themes of fragility, healing, and personal renewal.
Recorded entirely in one take, ‘With Gold’ reflects Sofia’s embrace of imperfection and emotional candor. “Recording the song in one take, with nothing to hide behind, felt like the truest way to tell that story,” she says. The minimalist approach shapes a soundscape that mirrors the track’s narrative of fracture and repair.
Lyrically, the single transforms personal pain into a message of optimism and resilience. Sofia Gobbi cites inspiration from Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer—a practice that honours, rather than conceals, the object’s cracks. “’With Gold’ is about finding light after the dark, about struggle, renewal, and learning to see beauty in what’s been broken,” she explains. “That philosophy shines through in the lyric, ‘you broke me into pieces, but I glued them back with gold.’ … Our scars don’t diminish us; they just make us shine brighter.”
‘With Gold’ positions Sofia Gobbi for a defining year in 2026 as she prepares to release ‘Bigger Man’, her debut full-length project.
