News: The Barefoot Bandit Return With Cover of The Clash’s ‘The Guns Of Brixton’

The Barefoot Bandit have released a bold reimagining of The Clash’s 1979 classic, ‘The Guns Of Brixton.’ Fresh off a landmark 2025, which saw the band take main stage slots at Beautiful Days and Beat-Herder, their live shows earned widespread acclaim, cementing them as a rising force on the UK music circuit.

Their new single reinterprets the punk-reggae original while staying rooted in its foundations. The band layers spacious dub textures over militant rimshot rhythms and echo-soaked guitars. A piercing brass line adds urgency and swagger, drawing on classic roots reggae and UK sound system culture, while giving the track a fresh, live-band energy. Midway through, the track transitions into a high-octane Drum & Bass finale, rolling with breakbeats, Reese bass, and festival-ready intensity.

Explaining their choice of song, the band said: ”The original track feels as relevant now as it ever did. We didn’t want to just cover it – we wanted to reinterpret it through our lens. For us, that meant pushing the dub textures further, giving the brass real bite, and then accelerating into Drum & Bass – because that’s part of the same UK lineage. Reggae, punk, rave culture – they all speak to each other. This record is our way of stitching those threads together.”

Hailing from the South-West, The Barefoot Bandit blend towering brass, earth-shaking grooves, and conscious, razor-sharp lyricism to explore the human experience. Their debut album, Hello Welcome, released in 2022, caught the attention of Craig Charles (BBC Radio 6 Music), BBC Introducing, and reggae icon Sir David Rodigan (BBC Radio 1Xtra).

The band has made waves at globally renowned festivals including Glastonbury, Boardmasters, Boomtown Fair, and Camp Bestival, as well as in leading UK venues. With Album #2 already in the works and a fanbase expanding across Europe, The Barefoot Bandit are poised for their biggest year yet, bringing their signature dub-reggae energy to an even wider audience.
