Tom Busby has confirmed three Queensland album launch shows to mark the release of his debut solo record Rockhampton Hangover, due out Friday February 20. The shows will see Busby perform with his full band and are free to attend with RSVP required via his website.
The run begins on release day at the newly rebuilt Leichhardt Hotel in Rockhampton, before moving to Brisbane’s Triffid Garden on Saturday February 21 and concluding at the Walloon Hotel in Ipswich on Sunday February 22. Each show will feature DJ Nicka35, delivering country-driven DJ sets before and after Busby’s performance.
Recorded in Texas Hill Country and produced by Ben Kweller, Rockhampton Hangover is a 10-track album that places Busby’s songwriting and vocals at the centre. The record includes the new single In The Dark, alongside previously released tracks Waiting For Tomorrow, Someone Strong, Cyclone and Lottery, the latter helping establish momentum for Busby’s solo work following his time away from the spotlight.
Best known as one half of folk duo Busby Marou, Busby steps into solo territory with a record shaped by personal reflection and a more stripped-back approach. With the album’s release and these launch shows, he begins a new chapter while remaining connected to the songwriting instincts that have defined his career to date.
