Aminé brings his Tour de Dance show to Sydney tonight, taking over the Metro Theatre with a set that leans into movement, colour and reflection in equal measure. There’s a sense of looseness to the room before he even steps onstage, the anticipation shaped as much by rhythm as by reputation.
Supporting tonight is Alice Ivy, whose set draws on a deep well of soul, Motown and beat-driven pop. Tracks like “Weakness” foreground her love of classic soul while filtering it through contemporary production, warming up the room with a sound that’s both familiar and forward-facing.

Aminé arrives in Sydney on the back of 13 Months of Sunshine, an album that refines his songwriting and emotional focus. Across its 16 tracks, he reflects on success while reckoning with grief, memory and change, moving fluidly from the intimacy of “History” to the expansive, psychedelic closer “Images”, featuring Toro y Moi.
The album follows his 2023 collaboration with Kaytranada, KAYTRAMINÉ, a project that leaned heavily into danceable pop-rap and hip-house, expanding both artists’ palettes. That release, with tracks like “4EVA” and “Rebuke”, reshaped expectations of Aminé as a live performer, positioning movement and rhythm at the centre of his shows.
At the Metro Theatre, that evolution feels fully realised. Aminé performs with a balance of lightness and intent, celebrating joy while allowing space for reflection. He is a dynamo of energy and points out to the crowd that although he is wearing a shirt with a koala on a bicycle with the backdrop of the Australian flag, there is no way that he will be doing a “shoey”. Behind me the crowd is ecstatic shouting the lyrics back at Aminé. It’s a reminder that his music thrives in live settings, where dance-floor energy and personal narrative can comfortably coexist.
