Lancashire-based indie rockers Hollins return with their latest, emotionally charged single, ‘What We Wish For’. Following their well-received Jorja Smith cover from earlier this summer, the band showcase a 90s infused sound comparable to Oasis as much as it is to the likes of Travis on the new single.
Blending indie-pop hooks with an energetic alt-rock edge, ‘What We Wish For’ sees Hollins embracing a more introspective and heartfelt side. The track delves into the pain of drifting away from those you hold dear, capturing a bittersweet sense of nostalgia. Its bright, jangly guitars imbue the song with a euphoric lift, guiding listeners through a captivating Britpop-inspired soundscape. Even as the track winds down, its melodies and emotional resonance linger, underlining the single’s authenticity and relatability.
Speaking about the release, the band shares, “This song is inspired by having to find your own path after being let down by people you love, having the courage to lead your own way, and not being afraid to get out there and meet new people.” They add, “It’s a gentle reminder that the grass isn’t always greener and to be careful what you wish for.”
