Mark Vennis & Different Place share the new single, ‘Empire Road’.

Opening with a punchy drum fill that kicks off its punk-infused sound, ‘Empire Road’ delivers Different Place’s a jagged charm comparable to Rolling Stone with atmospheric flecks more comparable to the likes of Doves, whilst also capturing a biting sting to the delivery comparable to Elvis Costello. The track tackles themes of power, wealth, and injustice, emerging as a defiant anthem charged with raw alternative energy and a distinctly British edge. Driven by gritty, authentic storytelling, Mark Vennis & Different Place once again raise the bar with this latest release.

“Empire Road is about the victims of relentless expansion and relentless pursuit of profit, about the people left behind, chewed up and spat out by a rampaging empire,” the band explains.

Hailing from Petersfield, Hampshire, Mark Vennis & Different Place are rooted in punk rock but have a knack for weaving chaotic, yet infectious, melodies into their sound. The band, consisting of Mark Vennis, Dave Sweetenham, Sean Quinn, and Brian Gee, formed in 2009, releasing their debut album Uncharted Water just three years later. They now boast four critically acclaimed albums and a five-track EP. Known for their dynamic live performances, the group has toured extensively across the UK and Europe, playing in countries from Ireland to France and sharing stages with The Stranglers, The Cockney Rejects, Eddie Tempole, and Alabama 3.
