Tame Impala have confirmed their return to Australian stages, announcing four arena dates in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth this October in support of Deadbeat, Kevin Parker’s fifth studio album.
Released in late 2025, Deadbeat signalled a shift in tone and texture. Created largely between Fremantle and Parker’s Injidup studio, Wave House, the record pares things back without losing scale. There is a noticeable minimalism at play, a crunch to the production that feels deliberate rather than austere, alongside a vocal approach that sounds looser and more exploratory. For an artist long associated with meticulous control, the embrace of spontaneity is telling.
Singles ‘Loser’, ‘End of Summer’ and ‘Dracula’ mapped out that direction. The latter delivered Parker’s strongest US radio debut to date and landed at number three in triple j’s Hottest 100, nearly two decades after Tame Impala first entered the poll. Earlier this month, Parker collected a GRAMMY for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for ‘End of Summer’, his first solo win, adding to a career that already stretches from InnerSpeaker through to The Slow Rush and beyond.
Live, the project has expanded. Now operating as a six piece touring band, Tame Impala launched the Deadbeat tour with a string of sold out North American dates, with Europe and further US shows locked in before the Australian leg begins. The scale has grown, but the focus remains on the songs.
Joining all dates is Ninajirachi, whose debut album I Love My Computer reframed her as one of the country’s most forward thinking electronic producers. After a year that included the Australian Music Prize, multiple J Awards and three ARIAs, her inclusion positions these shows as a meeting point between two distinct but complementary approaches to studio craft.
