Premiere: Swedish psychedelic exponents Melody Fields exclusively unveil expansive new single ‘Hallelujah’ on news of two new albums being released.

We are very pleased to bring you an exclusive listen to the new single ‘Hallelujah’ from Swedish psychedelic band Melody Fields. This comes as a sweetener to the exciting news that the band is about to release two albums – ‘1901’ and 1991′ – through Coop Records and Nudie Records.

‘Hallelujah’ is a shimmering expansive anthem that seemingly floats on a chemically-induced haze. Hypnotic percussive beats form a bedrock upon which a synth riff sketches lines in the sky. The chorus of voices are distant and dreamy like some surreal experience, soothing all the senses. There are elements of early The Verve, MBV and Lush, grounded by a sixties jingle jangle burnish redolent of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, but ultimately the band has its own unique style.

This track feels bigger than the universe – cinematic with complex layers and a sparkle, distant voices echoing somewhere in the ether. It’s an all encompassing sensory experience that is immersive and transfixing.

The band says of the single:

Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Primal Scream and Happy Mondays, the track transports you to the glory days of early 90s dance-oriented rock. ‘Hallelujah’ is a tantalizing preview from the upcoming album ‘1991,’ set for release on Coop Records (EU) and Nudie Records (US). Get ready to surrender to the irresistible allure of Melody Fields’ sonic ecstasy and let ‘Hallelujah’ ignite your dancing spirit.

It is certainly a sound to lose yourself in:

‘Hallelujah’ is out tomorrow and available on all the usual download and streaming sites. ‘1901’ will arrive on 13th October 2023, with ‘1991’ dropping on 10th November 2023.

The primary album, “1901,” can be described as a rock album with psychedelic influences. It features repetitive guitar riffs, distorted soundscapes, and mesmerizing three-part harmony vocals. As they traverse these musical landscapes, Melody Fields is joined by guest musicians from esteemed bands such as Goat and Holy Wave, adding an extra layer of sonic brilliance. The album culminates with the captivating track “Mayday,” a haunting composition written by the legendary Klaus Dinger from Neu!

In contrast, “1991” is a concept album that evolved from late-night jam sessions, experimental sounds, and danceable music. It presents four remixes, including contributions from Goat and Al Lover, breathing new life into the original composition “Jesus” from “1901”. Notably, “1991” includes the thought-provoking composition “Diary of a Young Man,” written by Daniel Treacy from Television Personalities, which invites introspection and reflection.
