Its something of a coup for Chunklet Industries that they’ve managed to get two of the longest-standing (and best) noise/psych bands on the planet to release a split single. Both bands are touring with Chunklet’s own Henry Owings in a run of US dates that takes in Boston, Philadelphia and Brooklyn.
Bardo Pond’s track is This Inner Light, which features experimental noise, almost ambient in style, with these laid back drum loops and a spoken mantra in the vocals. As it unfurls, so the noise ebbs and flows with the drums pulling the listener into a dream like state. Major Stars track, S.L.T. is more traditional in its songcraft, but no less for it, as the band hammer these Hendrix like riffs, and Mudhoney vibes over the female vocals. It’s a filthy and rather brilliant thing.
