Ahead of the release of here sixth album To Whom This May Concern, out on February 13th via Human Re Sources/The Orchard, multiple Grammy winning artist Jill Scott has released Beautiful People, out now on all streaming platforms.
The track is this laid back yet fresh slice of classic Scott, her formidable way with words taking on love and, well, beautiful people, and her vocals ranging from almost spoken to word to soaring soul phrasing. It’s all wrapped up with soulful backing vocals, this relaxed funk flavouring with gluey bass and shimmering keys and percussion. If this sets the scene for what’s to come, then mark it down in the most anticipated releases of the year bracket.
For her first full length in a decade, Scott has forged forward with her typically collaborative spirit, working with artists Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack and Too $hort with production credits from the likes of Adam Blackstone, Om’Mas Keith, DJ Premier, Camper, Andre Harris, Seige Montracity, Trombone Shorty, Eric Wortham, DW Wright, and VT Tolan.
