For an emerging artist who is only 16, Lily Jupiter displays an incredible assurance and prodigious ability in her debut single ‘Stamp Alphabet’, released today.

There are detectable elements of Lorde and Olivia Rodrigo for sure with the electronic thrum, driving pace, wry lyrics and velvet vocals. Jupiter adds George Michael as an influence and you can certainly detect this in the instrumentation and melody. Added to this is a remarkable level of swagger and attitude that threads throughout the track. Above all there is a commercial pop sensibility which has enough grit and steel to avoid any day-glo shallowness and lyrics that are cool with just a touch of an arched eyebrow and a hand on hip:

Open these letters
When you need me near
Think of the memories
That we hold dear
Might be miles away but you feel so close
Cos we’re connected through those 19 notes

This is impressive stuff indeed and we are witnessing the birth of something very special.

Jupiter says of the meaning behind the track and its creation:

This song is really special to me because it’s about a close friend of mine who moved to a different state, but we still keep in contact everyday. It’s a little message for her, and a symbol of our friendship.

Working with Kyle [Kyle Charles Hall, producer] has been the best thing ever. I told him the vibe that I wanted for the song and he understood immediately – it’s quite hard to find someone you click with like that. We literally recorded the song in one day, that’s how well it went.

The results speak for themselves:

‘Stamp Alphabet’ is out now and available to download and stream through the link above and here. I suspect we will be hearing a lot more from this artist.
