Eora/Sydney indie outfit The Sooks return with Take It Slow, a measured, open-hearted single that captures a band learning how to move forward without burning out. Produced by Jack Nigro (The Terrys, Pacific Avenue, Mid Drift), the track leans on breezy guitars and sunlit percussion, anchored by Corey Fitzsimons’ clear, steady vocal.
Written in the lead-up to the band’s first festival appearance over the 2024–25 summer, Take It Slow documents a moment of transition. Excitement sits alongside uncertainty, with the pressures of early adulthood and the cost-of-living crisis shaping the song’s reflective core. Rather than chasing momentum at all costs, the track pauses to consider sustainability, both creative and personal.
The single follows Kickstarter and Sober (For The Second Time) and will feature on The Sooks’ forthcoming EP, due Wednesday, February 18. It continues a gradual rise for a band that has become increasingly visible on the local live circuit, sharing stages with Daily J, Le Shiv, Salarymen, Press Club, Surely Shirley, Bread Club and GRXCE, as well as appearing at festivals including The Great Escape (TAS), The Big Chill and Good Gumnuts.
In 2024, The Sooks introduced themselves with debut EP Oyster Boy, a concise statement influenced by contemporary Australian indie while grounded in the friendships that formed the band. That sense of camaraderie remains central to their story, informing a sound that feels lived-in rather than overstated.
