News: I Am Kloot to play rare club gig in Hebden Bridge

Mercury Prize nominees I Am Kloot play a very rare club date at the Trades Club as part of the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival.
Lead singer John Bramwell played a solo show at the Holme Street venue in the Arts Festival two years, enjoying the experience so much he managed to persuade his bandmates Peter Jobson and Andy Hargreaves to join him for a full show in Hebden Bridge on Thursday 2 July.
“Artistic Director Helen Meller said: “John loved his solo festival gig so much he was very keen to bring the band here to play in a venue much smaller than ones they would normally play.
“Kloot recently sold out Manchester Apollo which is ten times the size of the Trades so tickets will go very quickly for this one. But more importantly the sheer quality of their songwriting, fierce live performances and defiant stance outside the music business are a perfect fit for what we are trying to achieve as a festival.”
I Am Kloot formed in Manchester at the turn of the Millennium producing six critically acclaimed studio albums despite labels going bust on them, and sales that never quite matched their gifts as songwriters.
All that changed in 2010 when their Guy Garvey produced album Sky at Night brought them to attention of the Mercury Prize judges. They might have not won the prize, but the album’s grace and beauty won them much needed airplays bringing in a whole new audience.
The follow up Let It All in – once again produced by Elbow leader Garvey – was another critical smash leading to the hometown Apollo gig where fans were asked to submit song requests.
The band have just completed a UK tour in support of their first live album Hold Back the Night which showcases their unique sound when in front of an audience.
I Am Kloot Tickets go on sale from 10am on Friday 24 April from www.thetradesclub.com and www.hebdenbridgeartsfestival.co.uk Tickets are limited to four per application.
