TRACK: Tanya Donnelly and the Parkington Sisters – ‘You Will Be Loved Again’: album release listening parties on Friday

TANYA DONELLY, who’s forged a career of alt.pop brilliance through Throwing Muses, Belly and just as Tanya herself, is set to release a seductive LP of close-harmony bluegrass covers with the Parkington Sisters tomorrow, August 14th called simply Tanya Donnelly and the Parkington Sisters.

Listen below to the gorgeous harmonising, the simple, heart-stealing beauty of their take on Mary Margaret O’Hara’s “You Will Be Loved Again”, which originally came to our ears on her 1988 album, Miss America.

“I first heard Mary Margaret O’Hara on the Throwing Muses tour bus in 1988,” Tanya recounts.

“When Ivo from 4AD gave us a cassette of her album Miss America we instantly fell in love, and it’s my favourite to this day.

“‘You Will Be Loved Again’ is one of the purest and most loving messages in song, and The Parkington Sisters and I wanted to end our album with it for this reason.”

In love with music as all our favourite musicians are, Tanya says the LP, her homage to songs that live in her soul, contains “some of the most honest, moving, beautiful, unfiltered, true and cool songs that have ever been written, in my opinion.”

The album is out in an array of formats over at American Laundromat Records now, including two incarnations on cassette, CD, and four different coloured vinyl pressings.

The album also includes takes on Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Ocean Rain”; the Michael Nesmith classic brought to indie hearts by The Lemonheads, “Different Drum”; The Pretenders’ “Kid”, The Go Go’s, Wings, and more.

And in celebration of the album being borne unto us, Tanya and the Parkington Sisters – Rose, Sarah, and Ariel, will host two virtual listening parties online tomorrow.

The first will take place courtesy Newbury Comics at 8pm, British Summer Time, on Twitter; the second at 1am on Saturday, British Summer Time, courtesy ONCE Somerville on Zoom, Eventbrite and Facebook.
