San Mei is the work of Gold Coast’s Emily Hamilton and her new single, ‘Wonder’, is a fantastic, slightly scuzzy, psych-tinged blast of pop. Incorporating elements of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and little bit of Garbage, ‘Wonder’ is bursting with energy and attitude with just a light dusting of grit to give it an inherent cool:
Hamilton has developed San Mei with producer and songwriter Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Ali Barter).
Discussing her new single, Hamilton said: “It’s about that classic butterfly moment you get when someone unknown to you captures your attention, and you’re not sure why. It’s that person becoming a daydream to you, wondering who they are, what they’re about, and not necessarily wanting them to become anything more than some intoxicating illusion”.
