Cosmic Kitten, an alternative / post grunge band from Long Beach, California invited me to come out to check-out their show this past Sunday night in Seattle, Washington.

Lead vocalist Karen Marie gives off a shy or timid appearance as she first comes to the stage tuning her guitar. As soon as the first song kicked off, I was quickly surprised by the powerful screams that her voice was was able to produce. Songs effortlessly move from the clean guitars and vocals, into hard hitting drums, thick sounding guitar under the scream and yells.

It felt appropriate to be seeing them perform inside a small, literal under ground club in the heart of Seattles Belltown district. The music harkened back to the sound and mood of the 90’s that brought Seattles grunge to the masses. Most of the set consisted of original songs by the band, while mid-way through drummer, Zach mentioned that they had played in Seattle the previous night and wanted to change things a little and mixed in some covers to their set. This included a very well done rendition of Joy Divisions song “Transmission” with Karen Marie taking over on the bass. In all I was impressed with the band and the energy they provided to us who came out for some live music on a Sunday night in Seattle.

Cosmic Kitten has a few upcoming dates for May in California at the end of this U.S. west coast tour, more details on shows can be found on the bands website. Their most recent album “Laugh of a Lifetime” is currently available on all major streaming platforms.

Anthony Moore

Resident of the Pacific Northwest in the United States. Ever since my first concert in 2004 (Ozzfest) when I was 14 I have been taking pictures. Those days were on a disposable film camera. Currently shooting with a Sony a7IV. My love for music has no bounds across many genres. Catch me at a local punk show or a Garth Brooks stadium concert.
