Droppin’ Knowledge: Track: Sen Morimoto -‘Deep Down’

New single from Chicago multi-instrumentalist composer and artist, Sen Morimoto

Sen Morimoto is one of the unheralded musical savants of North America, residing in Chicago, he is now part owner of Sooper Records, a label from the Windy city that befits the contemporary feel of the metropolis.

Sen Morimoto’s lead single from his self-titled sophomore album due for release in October, is entitled Deep Down and is a collaboration with Japanese electronic artist AAAMYYY.

The track is a hypnotic dream soaked composition that displays Morimoto’s fondness for his home country, and the partnership with AAAMYYY formed when touring together last year gives a certain integral richness to the tune.

Accompanying the track is a music video directed by KAINA. A home video aesthetic shows Morimoto and AAAMYYY plunking around their quarantine apartments during the age of the internet. About the video, KAINA says “I wanted it to feel really simple… but also chaotic and kind of poking fun at cool kid internet aesthetic that we as a society partake in to some degree on our socials since the song is about digging deeper.”

“Working with other artists from the label side showed me how everyone sets intentions for their art,” explains Morimoto. “That’s taught me a lot about treating my music as my baby, and giving it everything it needs to thrive.”

The fifteen track self-titled album is out from Sooper Records on October 23rd and features collaborations with KAINA, Lala Lala, Qari and NNAMDI.
