Droppin’ Knowledge: Terrace Martin Shares New Song And Video Featuring Denzel Curry, Kamasi Washington, G Perico & Daylyt

Terrace Martin, the Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist, producer and actor, has shared a new song, entitled “Pig Feet.” Martin enlisted Denzel Curry, Kamasi Washington, G Perico and Daylyt for the track, which reflects the current moment in the United States. The song’s video shows gut-wrenching images, in fuzzy black and white, of protests and acts of police brutality taken from the events now convulsing the US. The song also mixes in audio from actual conflagrations with police. The end of the video scrolls through the names of black people killed by the police, and it takes more than two minutes to display all of their names. This stark visual, white lettering listing names across a black background, evokes images of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, in Washington, D.C.

Martin wrote this about the song: ” Someone asked, how do I feel? I told them hurt, fearless, angry, aware and fully ready to protect me, my family & my people at all cost. I got together with Black men that felt the same way and created a work of truth.”
