Incoming: Official Illustrated History of Jethro Tull

Fans of the band cannot help but have noticed the ongoing Jethro Tull reissue campaign, where the band’s classic albums are being released as remasters overseen by Steven Wilson, with a whole bundle of extras in deluxe boxed set form.

If you’re the type of fan who has to own each of these boxed sets, then you’ll be delighted to hear the news that the much anticipated official illustrated history of the band will be released in a limited run ‘Signature Edition’, which comes in a handmade box, a pair of art-prints, and complete with a 7 inch single of Tull frontman Ian Anderson reciting a poem called “The Ballad of Jethro Tull”. The B side of the single finds Anderson reading Walter Scott’s 1808 poem, ‘Marmion’ with specifically written backing by Tull keyboard player, John O’Hara, on a cathedral organ. The book itself features unseen images and material from Anderson’s personal archive, and is the first official history of the band to date. Fans who pre-order now will be able to have their name printed in the finished book.

Those with a more modest budget are catered for by way of a ‘classic edition of the book, which includes a download code of the new recordings.

The Official Illustrated History of Jethro Tull is expected to be released in November 2019 and can be pre-ordered from www.jethrotullbook.com.
