Live Review: The Zutons / Casino – Leadmill, Sheffield 19.04.2024

As I walked down Leadmill Road on the night of April 19th, I saw a line of roughly 600 people queuing to enter Sheffield’s iconic Leadmill, and knew I was in for a good night!

Opening the night was ‘Casino’. These lads were absolutely amazing with their take on, what I would describe as Indi pop meets Indi soul. This is one band I will be looking forward to seeing again. You can check them out on Spotify now.

Next, it was time to step back in time to 2004 when every time you stuck the radio on, you’d hear the Zutons with their unique Indi disco/rock sound.

From the moment the lights went down to the sound of ‘Zuton Fever’, the 600 strong crowd never stopped cheering and jumping to all the classics. This was not a ‘Greatest Hits’ tour by a long shot as the band introduced six new songs from their latest album ‘The Bigger Decider’, which was produced by Nile Rodgers and Ian Broadie.

You would never have thought these guys had a fifteen-year break with how tight the music was. You could feel the fun the guys were having just been on stage together. What a way to make a return to touring with a 22 night sell out tour and new album. They did not let us down and gave an outstanding performance.

This is one gig I’m glad I didn’t miss and I can’t wait to hear more from the amazing Zutons.
