Norwegian singer-songwriter Jenny Hval continues to plough her left-field approach in the lead up to her new album Blood Bitch, out via Sacred Bones on September 30th, with a new single Period Piece also available through the Adult Swim Singles Program for free download (head over to AdultSwim.com/singles).
Period Piece shuffles forward and back, blurring the lines between expectations and even beats, side-stepping and deliberately taking away the expected, while still managing to create something beautiful and different and coherant. Draped in synths, and soaked in echo and harmonies, Hval’s distinctive vocal swallows you up and surrounds you in something comforting and yet eerie.
