We’ve been fans of Toy here on Backseat Mafia for a long time. Their updated take on psychedelia, with added sophistication and a sprinkle of shoegaze and noise has floated our boat since we first heard of them.
We’re not the only ones to fall for the London five-piece and the band are currently preparing themselves to go over to America for a string of dates. As a little prequel to the tour, the band have released a new remix of ‘Conductor’, taken from their recent album ‘Join the Dots’. Its been remixed by Tom Furse from The Horrors, who has taken the bands late night chemical sounds to the dancefloor.
Adding this insistent kick drum and 808 handclaps to proceedings is one thing, but then littering it with slight acid house influences and varying synth sounds is completely another, and has made the track completely different and ever-evolving, but also retains some of its muscular charm.
