News: A Very Special Episode Start UK Tour

Brooklyn noise-rock band A Very Special Episode are bringing their explosive live show back to the UK this October, following the release of their self-titled EP, AVSE. The band will play four dates across Aberdeen, Glasgow, Sheffield and London, taking the record from the intimacy of its studio recordings into the unpredictable territory of the live stage.

The UK run begins at BrewDog Aberdeen Castlegate on Thursday 8th October, followed by a show at The Audio Lounge in Glasgow on Friday 9th. The band then head to Sheffield for a Saturday night performance at Cheap Dates before closing the tour at Shackwell Arms in London on Sunday 11th October.

If AVSE represents A Very Special Episode at their most concentrated, their live shows are where that energy is allowed to spill over. Distorted guitars, feedback, fuzz and pop hooks collide with a physicality that has become central to the Brooklyn band’s reputation within New York’s DIY scene. Their performances have a tendency to feel as though they could fall apart at any moment, while still retaining the hooks and melodies that hold everything together.

The band recently celebrated the release of AVSE by performing the entire EP live in Brooklyn. The set included “Too Cool”, a track they had previously played less frequently because of the challenge of translating its sparse arrangement to the stage. For the performance, friends Allison from Wetsuit and Marlena from Go Home joined the band, helping create the larger and more expansive arrangement the group had always imagined for the song.

“Playing the whole EP in its entirety was really fun because we’ve played them all before, not all in the same set,” says Kasey Heisler. “It made it feel big like the way we imagined it. It was nice to see it come to life in that way, and always a good time to collaborate with excellent musicians and friends.”

Guitarist and vocalist Katie Ortiz and touring drummer Zach Rescignano, both of fellow Brooklyn rockers Debbie Dopamine, will join the Kasey Heisler, Patrick Porter and Chayse Schutter of AVSE for the tour.

A Very Special Episode’s UK tour dates:

Thursday 8th October, BrewDog Aberdeen Castlegate, Aberdeen
Friday 9th October, The Audio Lounge, Glasgow
Saturday 10th October, Cheap Dates, Sheffield
Sunday 11th October, Shackwell Arms, London
