Alice Springs songwriter Charlie Ivan has unveiled his new single ‘Fait Accompli’ while announcing a national Australian tour in support of his forthcoming second album, Of Nothing, due for release on 7 August via Bedroom Suck Records.
The new track offers another glimpse into Of Nothing, following June’s double single release of the album’s title track and I’m Tired. Recorded in Mparntwe/Alice Springs on Arrernte Country with producer Dylan Young (Way Dynamic), the record builds on the foundations of Ivan’s 2024 debut, Where The Dogs Go To Die, drawing deeply from the landscapes and emotional terrain of Central Australia.
Rather than leaving the desert behind, Ivan chose to record where many of the songs first took shape, allowing the environment to become inseparable from the music itself. Across Of Nothing, alternative rock and desert folk intertwine with a quiet intensity, reflecting influences ranging from Mark Lanegan, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and Sharon Van Etten, while remaining firmly rooted in the distinctive atmosphere of Australia’s interior.
The album continues Ivan’s exploration of themes including longing, memory, isolation and perseverance, with Fait Accompli capturing the understated emotional weight that runs throughout the forthcoming release. Produced by Dylan Young, with mastering by James Trevascus and album closer Grease House produced by Michael Beach, Of Nothing represents another significant step forward for one of Australia’s emerging alternative songwriters.
To celebrate the album’s arrival, Ivan will embark on a national headline tour this August, performing with his band across Alice Springs, Thirroul, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Brisbane and Mapleton. Local support across the run will include Milly Strange, Ella Ion, Beryl and Hinano Fujisaki.
