News: Clarity Liao Shares Intimate New Single ‘Pouring Rain’

Clarity Liao explores uncertainty, self-reflection and hope on the intimate new single ‘Pouring Rain’, the latest single from her forthcoming debut solo EP, Dear….

One of Clarity’s most personal songs to date, ‘Pouring Rain’ captures the quiet struggles of growing up, feeling left behind and searching for direction. Bringing a spacious soundscape of piano, elegant guitars and a swaying, waltzing drum beat, Liao’s glowing vocals glide with a beautiful sense of control and a melodic flourish.

Written during a rainy afternoon by her bedroom window, ‘Pouring Rain’ began as a moment of personal reflection. Watching friends move forward while she questioned her own path, Clarity turned feelings of uncertainty and isolation into a gentle meditation on identity, growth and resilience.

Rather than focusing on romance, the song becomes a conversation with herself. Its delicate melodies and understated production capture the feeling of being caught between where you are and where you hope to be, offering comfort to anyone navigating adulthood’s quieter challenges.

Speaking about the single, Clarity explains: “‘Pouring Rain’ was meant to be a simple lullaby explaining how I felt stuck in a place I hated, and how I feel as a person myself. It’s like a break from love letters, and a letter to myself. This song really explains the story of myself.”

Clarity first gained recognition as the principal songwriter for Navillera, whose debut single ‘Too Young’ won the 2024 Yamaha National Best Popular Music Award. She followed that achievement with ‘I Need You’, which claimed first place at the 2025 YMS National Composers competition.

Now stepping into her solo career, Clarity continues to expand beyond her indie pop roots, embracing bedroom pop, R&B, modern doo-wop and acoustic-driven songwriting across Dear…, an EP built around unsent letters exploring love, jealousy, loneliness and self-discovery.
