News: Dutch Producer Heijmat Announces New EP ‘Echoes of Solace’, Releases Immersive First Single ‘Horizon’

Dutch alternative-electronic artist Heijmat returns with the announcement of his upcoming EP Echoes of Solace, accompanied by the release of its first single, ‘Horizon’. Known for his genre-defying fusion of ambient, techno, and downtempo music, Heijmat ventures into a more cinematic and emotive soundscape with this latest release, signalling an evolution in his artistry.

On ‘Horizon’, Heijmat collaborates with LudoWic, a celebrated electronic artist and master of the Trautonium—the world’s first synthesizer. This partnership gives the track a distinctive edge, blending lush analogue synths, delicate piano lines, and elegant arpeggiators to craft an expansive, reflective sonic journey.

Opening with a haunting melody, ‘Horizon’ gradually unfolds into rich, textured layers reminiscent of Nils Frahm, punctuated by warm analogue synths. The track’s tension builds through a dynamic B-section before culminating in an uplifting crescendo of hope and triumph, evoking comparisons to Jon Hopkins’ cinematic soundscapes. The finale—a poignant blend of Trautonium, synth, and piano—provides a quiet, meditative resolution.

The single is accompanied by stunning artwork created by Heijmat’s wife, combining a polaroid taken by their eldest daughter with a painting by Heijmat’s father-in-law. The result is a tactile and organic visual that perfectly complements the music’s depth and emotional resonance.

Speaking about the single, Heijmat shares:
“Horizon is about finding clarity amidst chaos. It’s a journey of rediscovery, where the build-up mirrors the highs and lows we all face. I wanted it to feel like the calm after a storm—cinematic, yet deeply personal.”

the project of acclaimed mixing engineer Huub Reijnders behind artists like Oscar and the Wolf, The Subs, and Kraak & Smaak, ‘Horizon’ continues Heijmat’s tradition of creating vibrant, immersive soundscapes. Building a dedicated global fanbase drawn to his innovative and ever-evolving sound, ‘Horizon’ see’s Heijmat reach even further into a exploration of cinematic, emotive and mature electronic music.
