NEWS: first of PJ Harvey’s Island vinyl reissues announced

UNAVAILABLE for years, bootlegged time and time again, and changing hands for feverish sums often well into the three figures, it’ll come as a relief to many a wax junkie that Island have announced a vinyl reissue programme for PJ Harvey’s catalogue with the label.

And the programme, which is set to run into 2021, commences with Rid of Me and 4-Track Demos, both of which will be back in the big racks at a record emporium near you from August 21st.

Rid of Me was her major-label debut, appearing in 1993 and reaching no.3 in the British album charts. Produced by Steve Albini, it featured the acclaimed singles “50ft Queenie” and “Man-Size”. .

4-Track Demos followed that same October, and is comprised of tunes recorded at home throughout 1991 and 1992. Self-produced, it presents the songs in a simple first incarnation.
