This year it is going to be very difficult to avoid being Whamageddoned with Future Islands having just released their own version of the Wham! track, which becomes ubiquitous at this time of year. In a surprise and brave move the band have playfully reworked the classic song, with Samuel T. Herring’s distinctive vocals retaining the charm of the original but building on the potent emotional heft to George Michael’s bittersweet lyrics.
