News: Golden Plains Nineteen locks in Geese, Miss Kaninna and Australian debut of Angine de Poitrine

Golden Plains Nineteen is taking shape, with Geese, Underworld, Angine de Poitrine and Miss Kaninna among the acts heading to Victoria’s Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre for the festival’s next edition.

New York rock outfit Geese arrive with plenty of momentum. Fronted by Cameron Winter, the band have built a reputation for unpredictable live performances and songs that refuse to sit neatly within genre boundaries. Following 2023’s 3D Country and 2025’s Getting Killed, they’ll make their Golden Plains debut with a Sunday night set.

Electronic pioneers Underworld are another major draw. Karl Hyde and Rick Smith have spent decades reshaping dance music, producing tracks including Born Slippy (Nuxx), Two Months Off and Cowgirl. Their appearance brings one of electronic music’s most enduring live acts to the Amphitheatre.

Making their Australian debut are Quebec’s Angine de Poitrine, the masked duo whose polka-dot costumes are almost as unusual as their music. Mixing microtonal math rock, psychedelia and electronic rhythms, they’ve developed a following through performances that are difficult to categorise.

Closer to home, Miss Kaninna returns to Golden Plains following a significant rise in her career. The Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali rapper has earned attention for tracks including Blak Britney and Mob Ties, alongside performances with Amyl and The Sniffers and Kneecap.

As ever, Golden Plains keeps things deliberately simple. One stage, two days and two nights, camping included and no commercial sponsors. The festival’s longstanding No Dickheads Policy remains part of its identity, while ticket holders can bring their own supplies and enjoy the outdoor cinema and Meredith Eye.

The second round of the ticket ballot is now open and closes at 10:19pm AEDT on Monday 19 October. Introduced in 2007, the ballot gives subscribers an early opportunity to secure tickets.

With experimental rock, electronic music and Australian hip hop already represented, Golden Plains Nineteen is shaping up as another wide-ranging weekend in the Victorian countryside.
